jeweled dog collarIf you are fashionable and love your dog to be equally trendy, then you will surely want to see your adorable canine in posh apparel. However, it is highly advisable to first ensure that the dog apparel that you are about to purchase is of right size and good quality.

Always consider that even though many dogs have a small stature, they have differences in weight, and sometimes height, which can make a lot of difference. So, when you’re looking to buy any dog clothes, don’t go for the style alone – finding the right size is very important too.

Dog apparel can be accentuated with fashionable dog accessories; these include everything from dog hats to a jeweled dog collar. I’ve even been able to find fashionable fog jackets for winter-time walking.

Importance of Dog Identification

dog collars

Whether you’ve just adopted a pet from a shelter, or have just purchased a new puppy, it’s important to get dog collars and an identification tag for them right away. It’s a horrible thought that your dog could become lost, but it can happen to any owner. With a dog ID tag, if your pup is found by another person, or even the dog catcher, you won’t have to worry about them not knowing who the dog belongs to. Dogs without ID tags are often never found because there are so many animal shelters, and dogs can wander for significant distances. You also never know if a kind passerby will pick them up and take them to an animal shelter on the other side of town, or even in a different town.

It’s important to get an ID tag for your dog right away whenever you’re welcoming a new dog into your family. After all, you wouldn’t want to lose your new family member just because they couldn’t tell someone their name.

The Miniature Dog Obsession

By now we’ve all seen the hand-sized dogs that have become more of an accessory than a pet for many Hollywood stars. The trend seems to have started with Paris Hilton and her miniature pooch, but the fad has spread into the mainstream as well. You can see women everywhere carrying around their tiny canines, and some even have specially designed bags for toting their pet.

Not only have these adorable little dogs become an accessory for their owner, but they also sport many extravagant accessories themselves. It is not uncommon to see them sporting a leather jacket or glitzy rhinestone dog collar. While I don’t have a problem with spending time with your pet and showing them affection, I think that this obsession has gone too far. It is time for dog’s to once again become “man’s best friend” instead of “man’s best fashion accessory.”

Leash Training Your Rambunctious Pup

leather dog leashNew puppies are notorious for their unruly behavior, thought it’s through no fault of their own. By their very nature, young dogs are hyperactive and mischievous. Their levels of excitement and curiosity are often enough to drive a new owner bonkers. Luckily, the combination of age and training has a way of getting even the most rambunctious puppies to mellow out.

Leash training requires patience and persistence on the owner’s part, but it’s certainly worth the trouble in the long run. The dog’s natural first reaction to a leather dog leash will be one of resistance, but eventually he’ll get used to the feeling. Let him drag the leash around the house for a while taking care that it doesn’t catch on any furniture. Then take the act outdoors and go for a short walk. In time, the dog will learn to respond to even the lightest tug.
