When:
Saturday & Sunday,
February 28th & March 1st, 2009
Where:
Catoctin Kennel Club Training Building
4016 Rock Hall Road
Point of Rocks, MD. 21777-2047
About This Breed:
Siberian Huskies are easy-going, friendly dogs. They enjoy the comfort and security of the home and family because they are pack dogs. If regularly exercised, they will be happy hanging out on the couch for a hug. However, if left alone for too long, they become restless and destructive. These dogs are devoted to their families. They rarely bark or act territorial. But they do have an interesting wolf–like howl. Huskies are everybody’s friend, so if you’re looking for a guard dog, this would not be a good choice.

shark-punch-300908-thumb.pngRecently, in Islamorada, Florida, Greg LeNoir dove into the water off a pier to rescue his rat terrier, Jake. Jake was in the mouth of a 5-foot shark, and Greg had to punch the shark repeatedly to get it to loosen its grip on the pup. Fortunately, the shark released Jake. He suffered numerous puncture wounds, but his medical prognosis is good.

Walking in the Rain

RaincoatIf your dog is like mine, it doesn’t matter if it’s rain or shine. She just wants her daily walk to see what’s going on out there. She has a long coat, and I have been hesitant about taking her out in the pouring rain because I know I’ll need to dry her off in the house so she doesn’t shake all over my living room. My perfect solution? An adorable raincoat that fits my larger dog. I’m going to get her rainboots, too! Now we can walk every day throughout the winter season, and we’re both happy!

Running DogAs obesity hits the human population, a parallel problem has spread to our pets. Obesity decreases a dog’s lifespan by an average of two years–the equivalent of 15 human years!

Veterinary health care experts agree that diet and lack of enough exercise are the two main factors in pet obesity. Doggie treats are surprisingly fattening so check out the labels and choose the lower calorie treat. Forgo table scraps! Exercise is a normal state for our pets; under–exercised dogs can be effected both mentally and physically. To reach their full potential, daily exercise is a must.

Your dog will thank you for its prolonged life.

Stomping in my Dog Err Force Ones!

Yo Yo power to the dog lovers in the house!  This is your kid Franky Fresh, and I’m here to lay down the word about a fly dog named Shakur.  Now when it comes to stomping the yard, the dance floor, or the pavement, Shakur represents in his dog boots.  Now I know what ya’ll is thinking “Franky, you know boots can’t be err force ones!”  Well I’m telling ya’ll, you ain’t never seen a pair of dog boots as tricked out as Shakur’s.

Shakur’s dog boots have embedded 2.2 inch rims that spin when he walks, got some thick baby blue laces, a pump for when he’s balling, and a thick sole for keeping his feet protected.  Ya’ll better know that sole has a chromed out nose too, cause Shakur’s not just fresh, he’s funky fresh!  There’s no human out there that has boots like Shakur’s, and when you’ve got four legs, ya’ll better recognize that what you put on your feet is the most important!

Who Let the Dogs Out!

Turn on the heat and let’s set the fire up in this blog!  Ya’ll know your boy Franky Fresh, and today I’m here to let the truth be told about dog fashions.  Now this ain’t common knowledge on the streets, but all the major labels make dog clothes.  Now I’m sure ya’ll are like “Franky, what kind of stuff did you spitting, I know Fubu don’t make dog shirts!” Well ya’ll would be wrong on that, cause all the busters out there would be starting some stuff if they knew Fubu made dog clothes, so they keep it on the down low.

But ya’ll better believe Fubu recognizes that dog fashion is the future.  My dog Shakur is an original gangsta when it comes to dog clothing.  And while the haters are denying how fresh the concept of dog fashion is, Shakur be representing that stuff on the streets.  Everyone around my hood knows Shakur is the freshest dog on the west side, he’s the future, ya’ll better believe that!

Fleece Dog JacketAs we know, different dog breeds have different coats–some provide more warmth in the winter than others. For those dogs that do not have thick coats, it’ s good idea to invest in getting your pet a winter doggy jacket or sweater. Keep your pet warm, dry, and comfortable during winter outings so your pet will enjoy walking and playing outdoors. I have found a website that offers a great selection at very affordable prices.

Another issue in cold weather is that of your pet’s paws. The pads on your dog’s feet are often overlooked by many pet owners when it comes to pet health problems. Dogs’ pads and toes are susceptible to cold weather damage; snow and ice is frozen water and can cause frost burns and frostbite. Another important winter concern is dealing with the salt used to clear ice from your steps or walkways. Ice removal products, generally either a form of salt or a combination of chemical melting agents, can cause serious burns to your pet’s feet if not washed off with a warm washcloth. A great way to prevent problems is to provide your dog with boots to totally protect his paws. This solution will also save you time in the long run because you won’t have to wash four paws after each snowy outing.
